It will be no surprise if Cyriel Dessers walks through the Rangers exit door this month, with manager Philippe Clement preferring other options at the moment.
The 30-year-old has made 32 appearances for Rangers so far this season, scoring 13 goals and adding four assists along the way. However, he’s been edged out of prominence a little by Clement recently, and that’s obviously encouraged the transfer rumours.
Earlier today we covered quotes from the man himself, where he was speaking to the Dutch media about a potential return to the Netherlands and Eredivisie.
Whilst he didn’t rule out a Rangers exit before the end of January, indeed he suggested an Ibrox could be on the way, Dessers doubted whether a move back to Dutch football was feasible this month.
Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Rangers striker is now the ‘priority’ option for Cagliari, they see him as someone who can improve their attack immediately and value his previous experience in Italian football.
However, before Cagliari can make a swoop for the Rangers player, they first need to ‘thin out’ their squad. They need to get a move on.
