Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are today named as potential destinations for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
It’s Estadio Deportivo who shares a story on the 23-year-old’s future, claiming he’s expected to leave Mestalla in the summer, as he’s ‘practically a guaranteed sale’.
It’s claimed that the 23-year-old attracted the interest from several clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham, although it’s still unclear how much his departure would cost.
Mamardashvili is protected by a €100m release clause, but Estadio Deportivo makes it clear that ‘surely no one will pay such amount’ for a goalkeeper.
He’s already been teasing with a summer exit from Valencia, and his club is now looking for replacements in the market.
The battle for his signing should indeed keep his price up, though, as even the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were recently said to be interested.
Now since we’re speaking of a big investment in a goalkeeper, that could immediately impact on the futures of Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario and Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic, as signing Mamardashvili won’t be cheap, with the Blues clearly the more needy side at this moment in time.
