An article in Sunday’s edition of Record had a bit of an odd strop at Manchester United, using Viktor Gyökeres as something of a vehicle to do so.
Perhaps there’s some upset somewhere about the Red Devils taking Rúben Amorim away from Sporting CP, and this was one way of addressing that irritation.
Record say, according to their own information, that Gyökeres isn’t interested at all in a move to Manchester United and the only thing they’d have going for them compared to other options is the presence of Amorim.
The Swedish striker isn’t attracted to the Premier League club because they’re ‘disorganised, unstable and permanently on fire’.
Perhaps the next section is the most eyebrow raising from Record, who appear to dismiss Manchester United even having interest but then take themselves on a journey of words which leads to an insistence an effort from the club is absolutely nailed on.
‘It is true that the Red Devils have been out of the race, but with the arrival of Amorim, a great admirer of the number 9, it is likely that they will position themselves for an attack, not in January, as Rúben himself anticipated (even given the cost of the operation), but thinking about the end of the season. Therefore, it is practically guaranteed that there will be an approach, Record knows that Gyökeres has other preferences for pursuing his career, as the United project is viewed with… suspicion..’
It’s also added that other than Amorim, ‘everything else is considered negative’ when it comes to the Old Trafford club.
Of course, there’s absolutely no way Manchester United would move for a player if he feels so lowly of them as Gyökeres is presented as doing.
However, that feels very questionable.
