Last summer, Leeds United got linked to Colombian forward Julian Quiñones.
It had been claimed by the European media that the Whites got involved in a race to sign him from Mexican side Atlas.
Even though nothing happened back them, with the player staying in North America, we get to see Leeds again named in a story from Soy Futbol today.
The piece is about the quotes from Atlas manager Benjamin Mora, who in a press conference, talked a little about Quinones’ potential and what’s missing for the 26-year-old to become an elite player.
“Since before I met him, he seemed like a very interesting player, unbalancing; Later, when I met him, I discovered that he is an integral boy, with a winning, competitive mentality.”
“Tactically, he will have to adapt a little if he wants to go to elite football, where perhaps his teammates and the leagues themselves will demand it in many ways.”
“He’s very young. He will surely have the conditions to succeed where he is.”
At the end of their story, Soy Futbol points out that Quinones had been linked to the likes of Leeds, Sampdoria and Torino.
Still, they claim that there have been no approaches made to the Mexican club.
Featuring for Atlas this season, the forward has 15 goals and two assists in 31 appearances.
He had first joined them on a loan deal, and was permanently signed last summer for €2.6m. Now with his very good form, his value on Transfermarkt has already gone up to €6m.
