We were finding it strange that Bas Dost hadn’t been involved in transfer rumours lately, but newspaper A Bola makes sure to end it today.
Even though the newspaper doesn’t have any big claims to make, they write a story saying the striker has pretenders in England and Germany, and could be leaving the Lions this summer.
There’s only one club named in the story, and that’s Newcastle United. A Bola claims the player still has followers in England, and mentions the old links with the Magpies as proof of it.
Newcastle were said to have made a €40m offer for Dost last summer.
However, there are no details saying Rafa Benitez’ side would be prepared to bid for the Dutchman in the upcoming sumer transfer market.
Bas Dost rejected leaving Sporting last summer, but things should change now, after a disappointing season and the fall out with club president Bruno de Carvalho.
His agent is said to be receiving approaches, and should present some offers to the Lions this summer.
With 70 goals in the past two seasons, there’s no doubt the Dutchman could be a huge signing for Newcastle United. Question is if they’re still interested.
