Giovani Lo Celso couldn’t get a move away from Tottenham Hotspur despite being linked to Barcelona, Real Betis and Napoli in the summer window.
On September 2nd, Sport stated Spurs blocked the midfielder’s exit as Ange Postecoglou wanted to count on him this season.
That hasn’t happened so far and he’s made only one substitute appearance in the league before he suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of August.
Fichajes.net state the midfielder could leave Tottenham in January and Barcelona would be an option for him, given he’s admired by Xavi Hernández.
It’s said Xavi has long had in his mind to bolster his side’s midfield and Lo Celso’s name ‘appears strongly’ as a target for that position, as the Argentina international would fit well into the system used by the manager.
Lo Celso has a deal lasting until 2025 and Fichajes.net say the La Liga side are willing to table a ‘laughable offer’ of €15m in order to convince Tottenham to sanction his sale in January.
The outlet adds Postecoglou’s arrival has ‘played a key role’ in Lo Celso’s possible exit from Tottenham and Barca would try to take advantage of this to bring him to the club in the winter market.
