With the transfer window approaching, newspaper Record today features a little story talking about where in the squad Sporting can make some millions this summer.

Their answer is their midfield, where João Palhinha and Matheus Nunes have both been standing out this season. And regarding the latter, Newcastle United show up as one of the possible destinations.

It’s recalled that the Portugal international, who was born in Brazil, even had offers to leave the Lions in January, and the Premier League continue to be an option as he ‘gains interest’ from the Magpies and Everton.

The move to England is now said to be an ‘option on the table’ for Nunes, and Sporting will be rubbing their hands to make as much as possible from their midfielders this summer.

Even though Nunes had been strongly linked to Everton last summer, it’s probably now safe to say that Newcastle show up as a more interesting option for the 23-year-old.

The Magpies are expected to have a much bigger budget to sign reinforcements in the next transfer window, besides showing a more exciting project. The Toffees, meanwhile, are still focused on avoiding relegation, as they currently stand 17th in the Premier League.
