West Ham United continue to be considered the main contenders to sign Sporting winger Jovane Cabral.

A week ago, reports from the Portuguese media claimed that the Hammers made ‘exploratory contacts’ for the 22-year-old.

Newspaper A Bola has a new story about the player today, this time claiming that two Italian clubs were the latest to make an approach for Jovane.

However, it’s pointed out that there’s a club who look to be ‘a few steps ahead’ in the chase for the winger, and that’s West Ham.

It’s said the Hammers have shown the ‘most effective interest’ and talks with Sporting have already taken place.

A Bola claims the Lions will only let Jovane leave for the right price, and as it stands a deal could be found for between €20m and €25m.

Jovane Cabral is another product of Sporting’s academy, and started being used more regularly in the past couple of years. Despite struggling with injuries at the start of the current season, he ended up impressing during the final stretch, finishing the league with six goals and three assists in 16 appearances for the Lions.
