The Champions League clash between Porto and Manchester City continues to be a topic of controversy in Portugal.
The latest news from O Jogo now says that the Dragons have been fined for their delay in starting the game last week.
It’s said UEFA are charging Porto €40k for that, and blaming manager Sérgio Conceição for being the one responsible for the lateness.
The Portuguese side reportedly admitted that the coach ‘will be informed about the decision’, and apparently won’t make any kind of appeal against it.
The controversies between Manchester City and Porto happened in the two Champions League matches they had this season. In the first one, played in England, there were first complaints from the Portuguese side over the referee’s decisions, and then Bernardo Silva’s provocation towards his former rivals.
That was enough to light up the second game, which ended up including Pep Guardiola’s comments of how defensive Porto were, and Sérgio Conceição responding to it. The Dragons went further when recalling Bernardo Silva’s accusation of racism, and even former Manchester City player Joleon Lescott joined the quarrel.
In the end, it was reported by the Portuguese media that Porto now wanted peace with the Premier League side.
