Over the past few days, reports in Brazil claimed that Flamengo are interested in signing Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur.
Premier League Brasil claimed that the Rio de Janeiro side made an approach for the player, but were stopped by Spurs, who made a big request after of potential negotiations.
That attempt made a big fuss in the local media, and journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira made some interesting comments about it all on S1Live.
Quoted by Torcedores, he claimed it doesn’t make sense for Flamengo to go after Royal, as the club doesn’t have the financial conditions to sign a player who’s getting minutes at Tottenham.
“But it’s obvious that Flamengo aren’t going to take a player who has been a starter at Tottenham. I don’t know why they made that kind of enquiry.”
The original report from PL Brasil claimed that AC Milan are also interested in Royal, and that looks like a more possible scenario, in case they do go for the signing in the coming weeks.
The Brazilian has 15 appearances for Tottenham this season, having started in their last three Premier League clashes, so it makes sense if Spurs made a high request to let him leave in the middle of the season.
