Liverpool continue to stand as the favourites for the signing of Enzo Fernandez, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper O Jogo today features a story about the big interest the midfielder has been drawing, as he managed to ‘convince Europe’ following his great exhibitions in the World Cup.
And it turns out that despite the long list of interested sides, it keeps being said that Liverpool managed to get to him first.
O Jogo insists that Fernandez is set to have the Reds as his ‘priority’ because they already reached an agreement with his agent.
It’s also claimed that Benfica simply have no intention of negotiating the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.
That means that to sign him now, any interested club must have to trigger his €120m release clause.
The big question now is what happens if Liverpool don’t pay that much money in January and another club does.
Will Fernandez still wait for the Reds?
