Pedro Porro’s move from Sporting to Tottenham Hotspur should go through in the ‘next few hours’, according to O Jogo.
On Sunday, directors from the Lions and Spurs were sorting out the details of the deal.
This is likely to be worked out as the report states the 23-year-old’s move to Tottenham is ‘practically finalised’.
There are still ‘rough edges to be ironed out’, which is why his move to the north London club was not announced yesterday. O Jogo state this is likely to take place in the ‘next few hours’.
Antonio Conte’s side have already reached an agreement with the defender and need to pay his clause to conclude the deal. Porro was scheduled to make a trip to London yesterday, but that didn’t happen.
There have been ‘advances and retreats’, but the operation is ‘not at risk’.
Over at Record, they explain there was a stalemate last night. After the two sides reached a verbal agreement on Saturday, they were unable to put the understanding on paper yesterday.
At the moment, Record believe the operation is frozen and there is a risk of the deal not going through.
The reason for this setback is Tottenham’s resistance to bear the cost of the operation, which will see Sporting receive the €45m fee mentioned in his clause.
The verbal agreement on Saturday was for an €48m fee to be paid in instalments. It’s said Spurs, for now, are reluctant to bear the additional cost of €3m.
If the stalemate continues, there is a risk for Porro to finish the season in Portugal. The exit was ‘more shaky than ever yesterday’, which is why Sporting stopped talks with Barcelona for Héctor Bellerín.
To sum it up, Porro could join Spurs in next few hours if they stick to Saturday’s verbal agreement with Sporting.
