FC Porto ‘dream’ of signing Arsenal’s Fábio Vieira in the summer window, according to A Bola.
The attacking midfielder spent two years with the Dragons’ first team after graduating from their academy in 2020. He left them for the Gunners in 2022, and this move hasn’t worked out for him.
Vieira clocked in 1,883 minutes from 49 games for Arsenal, of which only 561 were from the recently concluded season. His opportunities were partly restricted due to injury.
It’s claimed the 24-year-old ‘wants to leave’ Mikel Arteta’s side for a club where he can enjoy more game time. This seems to have alerted Porto, who see him as an option to replace Francisco Conceição.
The Portuguese has a lot of competition for a place in Arsenal’s starting lineup. His time at Arsenal is ‘not going as desired’, and he doesn’t want to spend the best years of his career on the bench. Therefore, Vieira ‘intends to leave’ in the next window.
Vieira’s deal lasts until 2027, and recent claims in the UK said that Arsenal are requesting €35m to part ways with him. The report makes it clear that Porto aren’t willing to invest this amount.
In fact, A Bola say Porto are looking to sign the player on loan, and it has to be ‘funded’ by Arsenal, meaning they have to cover part of his salary.
