Amadou Onana’s agents have claimed the player wants to move to Everton over West Ham this summer.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who cover reports of a bid from Everton to sign the midfielder today.
Onana has been linked to West Ham all summer but Everton have now made a move to secure his signature, matching the Hammers bid.
Those reports were followed by claims that the player would prefer a move to Goodison Park, with it claimed in France that Frank Lampard had convinced him of the move.
HN back that up somewhat, quoting his representatives as saying “Amadou himself wants to go to Everton” when asked about the reports.
The newspaper also provides their own information on the matter, stating that Everton have made a bid to Lille that is ‘about as high’ as the one from West Ham.
The Hammers are ‘willing to part’ with €40m for the midfielder but their actual bid was €35m plus €5m in bonuses so Everton’s is either close to that or the same.
Whether that will be accepted remains to be seen, but with Onana keen on the move to Goodison Park, Everton now seem to be leading the race for his signature.
