Earlier on Wednesday, Sevilla president Pepe Castro admitted Aston Villa haven’t made an offer for Marcos Acuña but the two clubs are in talks over a deal for the left-back.
The La Liga side appointed Victor Orta as Monchi’s successor after the latter left them to join the Villans earlier this summer.
Sevilla will face Manchester City in the UEFA Super Cup later today. Ahead of this tie, Orta spoke to reporters, and was asked about reports linking the 31-year-old to Aston Villa.
His comments are relayed by Estadio Deportivo.
“We are all finishing the market and we have good players for teams that want to pay them at prices outside the market and believe that they are interesting for them,” he said.
The Sevilla sporting director seems to have sent a message to his Aston Villa counterpart and the Argentine international’s agent to not contact him “for four hours” today, starting from an hour before the kick-off against Pep Guardiola’s side. Orta says he wants to “think only about football” for those four hours.
“Everyone has their priorities, and we have a final. Each one is prioritising what they want for their team, for us it’s a final,” Orta explained.
Mundo Deportivo state the defender, who has ‘received an offer’ from Aston Villa, Bono and Youssef En-Nesyri can all leave the Andalusian club ‘at any time’.
Despite this, it’s claimed Sevilla manager José Luis Mendilibar tries to motivate the trio for the clash against Manchester City.
