Last Saturday, multiple claims from the Dutch press reported Calvin Bassey’s agent was ‘angry’ after Fulham had reached an agreement with Ajax for the defender’s transfer. It was also stated he wasn’t keen on joining the Premier League side.
Three days ago, Voetbal International stated Ajax left the 23-year-old out of a friendly tie, so he could hold talks with Marco Silva’s side. The contract details between the player and Fulham have reportedly been ‘ironed out’.
Algemeen Dagblad now state the centre-back’s transfer to Fulham should go through ‘this week’.
After the two clubs agreed a deal worth €20m for the Nigeria international, it’s claimed he needs to carry out medical tests and sign the contract with the London club.
Silva and his men are currently in the United States for their pre-season tour, where they will face Chelsea on July 30th. Earlier claims suggested Bassey’s medical would take place in London.
According to AD, the former Rangers man ‘will soon fly’ to America, where he will undergo medical tests with Fulham.
Jurriën Timber has left Ajax and Bassey is soon set to follow the Dutchman. This will force Ajax sporting director Sven Mislintat to sign at least two new centre-backs.
