Everton’s early exit from the FA Cup has forced Belgian star Romelu Lukaku to consider his future at the Merseyside club, reports Het Nieuwsblad, with there again being no chance of silverware.
With 11 goals and 5 assists to his name this season, Lukaku has been in impressive form, but there is still uncertainty about his long term future at Everton. Mino Raiola recently admitted that Lukaku is close to signing a new contract, and Het Nieuwsblad believe there is more to it.
It’s claimed Lukaku would only sign a new contract if there is a provision for him to leave the club for a fixed price. There is interest from China, but the Belgian forward isn’t considering a move to Asia and wants to compete at the top level.
Everton are said to be keen to ‘seduce’ Lukaku with a bumper new contract, but he wants ‘guarantees that he can leave for a certain price’.
In any case, it’s very unlikely Lukaku will leave in January and doubts over his long term future at Everton is expected to continue.
Everton may not be against the idea of an exit clause, but it’s agreeing the amount with Mino Raiola which could be an issue.
