Manchester City have become the latest Premier League side to be credited with interest in Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga.
The midfielder has scored nine goals and registered three assists from 25 league games this season. Earlier this month, Celta president Carlos Mouriño admitted he fears losing him in the summer.
Writing in the back page of today’s Marca, journalist Roberto Gomez explains Manchester City interest in the 20-year-old.
The Spain U21 international has a deal lasting until 2026, which includes a €40m release clause. The Premier League winners seem to be ready to activate it and also offer a five-year deal worth €60m to the player.
Gomez adds the Spaniard’s future will be in the Premier League unless his Real Madrid decide to match the Etihad club’s offer.
Los Blancos are aware that to sign Viega, they need to at least match the English club’s offer. If not, he will go ‘to Manchester City’.
To sum it up, Pep Guardiola’s side are ready to invest a overall package of €100m to bring Veiga to Manchester.
And, as it stands, they look to be well positioned in the transfer race.
