For the past few days, various reports coming out of Italy have provided a positive slant on the efforts made by Tottenham Hotspur for Cristian Romero.

On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport reported Atalanta ‘couldn’t say no’ to the €55m [€50m + €5m] proposal made by the north London club.

It was also explained the defender is ‘ready to pack his suitcase’ to make a trip to the English capital.

The deal to take the centre-back to Spurs is on the verge of getting completed, if a report from Sky Italia is to be believed.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and Atalanta agreed a deal worth €55m and the two clubs are ‘exchanging the latest documents and filing the last details’ of the deal.

It’s said the Argentina international has already carried out the first part of his Tottenham medical on Wednesday and will fly to London, where he will finish the remaining tests.

According to Sky, the Serie A side will give a ‘green light’ for Romero to travel to England once Atalanta formalise Merih Demiral’s arrival from Juventus.

The Turkish defender’s deal should go through soon and once that’s done, Romero will be allowed to complete his transfer to Tottenham.
