Malaga’s Ignacio Camacho was wanted by West Bromwich Albion during the summer transfer window, but nothing materialised in the end.
Malaga wanted €18m for the Spanish midfielder, which is his release clause, but the Premier League side offered €15m plus €3m in bonuses.
Yesterday, we covered a report in which Camacho explained he was tempted by West Bromwich Albion’s offer as it was financially impressive.
On Saturday, Spanish newspaper AS have covered Camacho’s interview with 101 TV in their newspaper. The 26-year-old has reiterated his desire to sign a new contract at Malaga, and claims ‘it’s not about the money’.
He said :”I’m not going to ask for what I was supposed to collect in England, because I think it’d be illogical.
“I am the first to believe that we should reach those figures. I do not think there’s any problem. It is not a situation that worries me too. Malaga and I won’t fight over money, we both know what it is.
“There will be an understandable agreement and it will certainly be the best for everyone.”
It seems both parties are close to an agreement, and West Bromwich Albion should probably look elsewhere, or be prepared to spend big money on him if they want to revive their interest.
