Lyon defender Moussa Niakhaté has warned Manchester United they won’t be travelling to Old Trafford in the Europa League to play the tourist.

RMC Sport cover comments from the Lyon defender after his side secured their place in the Europa League quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over FSCB Bucharest.

Doubles from Georges Mikautadze and Ernest Nuamah secured a 4-0 win at home for the French side and a 7-1 result on aggregate as they blew the Romanian side away to secure their place in the last eight.

They will now meet Manchester United in the next round after Ruben Amorim’s side were 4-1 winners over Real Sociedad and 5:2 winners over the two legs.

Amorim’s side are among the favourites for the competition after qualifying, with the hope that they can win and secure a place in the Champions League next season.

They will be hoping to use the power of Old Trafford to their advantage after going undefeated at home throughout their Europa League campaign so far, seeing off Sociedad, Rangers, Bodo/Glimt, PAOK and drawing with Twente.

Niakhaté does not intend to fall into that trap, though, and has warned Manchester United that Lyon won’t be acting the tourist when they travel next month.

“We play football to play matches like this, against United, they’re one of the best clubs in history,” he said.

“But we’re not going there to make videos or watch Old Trafford, but to qualify. We have the squad to cause them problems. We’re here to go all the way.”
