Feyenoord star Lutsharel Geertruida has been warned against potentially joining Arne Slot at Liverpool, as it may not be an ideal situation to walk into once Jurgen Klopp departs.
Analyst Aad de Mos has been talking about the player today with Soccer News as he continues to be linked with a move away from the Dutch club.
He’s been impressing again this season playing predominantly as a right-back, with six goals and four assists in 30 games in the Eredivisie and seven goals and four assists in 43 games in all competitions to date.
That’s seen him linked with several clubs in Europe and Liverpool seem likely to be added to that list before too long with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot seemingly their number one choice to replace to Klopp this summer.
He seems likely to be the first arrival of a major summer of upheaval and Geertruida may be one of several Feyenoord players linked with a move if he does end up being Klopp’s successor.
De Mos can certainly see that happening but doesn’t think it would be a smart choice for the 23-year-old to make.
“Well, I don’t know if that’s the ideal club,” he said.
“Usually such a club gets a dip, if a manager has been there for a long time, like Klopp. Then the car has to be booted up again.
“Gertruida shouldn’t go there. No, I think there are more clubs where he can go. But if Liverpool comes and he can get a good contract there, that’s never bad if you start at Liverpool.
“But it’s not like there will be a lot of success right away. Because the team is of course building things up.”
