Aston Villa’s interest in bringing Tammy Abraham back to the club from AS Roma may be in vain as he is aiming for a club with ‘much higher ambitions’.
That’s according to Il Tempo, relayed by Calciomercatonews, who say that any offer from the Villans ‘probably won’t satisfy’ the striker.
Abraham has been out of form for the Italian side this season, failing to hit the heights he enjoyed under Jose Mourinho last year.
He’s been out of favour for a while and that has led to plenty of speculation that he could be moved on, particularly as he has suitors in the Premier League.
Aston Villa re likely to continue reshaping their squad in the summer window under Unai Emery and a recent report indicated that they were in pole position for Abraham’s signature.
Il Tempo pick up on that and say that while there is ‘strong interest’ from Aston Villa in the striker after he spent a year there on loan earlier in his career, he is unlikely to return.
That’s because they’re currently 11th in the Premier League and ‘far from the European Zone’ and the club’s ambitions ‘would probably not satisfy’ the striker’s.
He doesn’t want to miss out on playing European football after two years of it with Roma and thus if he does leave, it will be for a club with ‘much higher ambitions’ than those of Aston Villa.
