David Raya’s performance for Brentford have ‘drawn the attention’ of Manchester United as they seek out a potential replacement for David de Gea.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the Spaniard is one of four options currently being looked at by those in charge at Old Trafford.

De Gea is out of contract at Manchester United in the summer and, despite the club working on a new deal with him, is ye to agree to an extension.

At the moment it appears he will be bringing his long stay in Manchester to an end and that means United will need to find a replacement this summer.

Raya is one of those who has been named among the potential targets after impressing at Brentford since their rise to the Premier League.

And Mundo state that is very much the case, claiming that the Brentford number one could be the one to ‘relieve’ De Gea at Manchester United.

His excellent seasons with the Bees have earned the Reds attention and they also know that he will ‘not cost too much’ compared to other options.

That latter point comes from the fact his contract expires in 2024, meaning Brentford may need to sell this summer if he refuses to sign a new deal at the club.

There is also the fact he is now 27-years-old and ‘in his football maturity’, another aspect which may be crucial as Ten Hag tries to get United competing for titles once again.

One man who doesn’t see it happening is journalist Alberto Rubio, though, who can’t see Raya fitting in at Old Trafford.

“David Raya doesn’t fit at Manchester United,” he told Radio Marca.

“He has good ball handling with his feet, but I don’t think he’s a transcendental improvement compared to De Gea.”
