Newcastle United and Valencia remain apart on their valuation of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the Magpies unlikely to match the current demands.
That’s according to Plaza Deportiva, who say Valencia owner Peter Lim is making matters difficult in terms of the goalkeeper.
They explain that Mamardashvili is the big unknown for Valencia at this moment in time, with everything pointing to a departure this summer.
The goalkeeper has even publically insisted his future will be made clear soon, indicating that there could be something on the cards moving forwards.
What he hadn’t anticipated was for Lim to put himself in the middle of matters, with him intending to secure a big deal for the goalkeeper if he is to depart the Mestalla.
That means Newcastle’s first offer for him was deemed insufficient at the club, with them offering less than the €45m Lim is looking for. There is also a belief that their failure to secure European football for next season will make it difficult for them to reach that number too.
There is a hope that Bayern Munich could insert themselves into a potential deal too after showing an interest in him last year, but even they would not go to €45m for a player who would be a back up to Manuel Neuer.
It means now finds himself stuck, with Newcastle not upping their bid and Lim refusing to move and give any discounts.
