Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah should push for a move to Everton this month, as it could provide him with a great opportunity to get back on track.

That’s according to compatriot Nana Asare anyway, who has been speaking to Africa Foot about his fellow Ghanian and the potential move to Everton.

The Toffees have been linked with Nuamah since last summer, when John Textor’s potential takeover at Goodison Park opened the door to a move.

Nuamah was subsequently linked to Fulham and close to that move before going missing on deadline day to stop that loan deal happening.

He remained at Lyon but has struggled for gametime since and finds himself back in the window this month as the French side look to secure sales or loan deals so they can reduce costs and bring down their debts to avoid being relegated to Ligue 2.

Reports earlier this month stated a move to Everton was close to being done but the issue has not moved on since then. Reports in France have indicated this is because Lyon are no longer as desperate as they once were thanks to securing other exits first.

Asare, though, believes Nuamah should be pushing for the move to Everton, as it could be a deal that suits all parties perfectly.

“With Lyon’s current financial difficulties, they could use the money from Nuamah’s sale to Everton, if the player is interested in the Everton project, with David Moyes now in charge of the team,” he said.

“A new environment could allow Nuamah to get back to his best, something we missed during his time at Lyon.

“If he were to make the move to Everton, who have been chasing his signature for months, it would be a very good move.

“Everton are short of quality strikers and that has been the case in recent seasons. With Nuamah, they would have a good player with huge potential. So, for me, it would be a win-win situation for all parties involved if it happened.”
