Ajax star Hakim Ziyech has been urged not to put his move to Chelsea at risk by playing for the Dutch side beyond July.
The winger agreed a move to Stamford Bridge back in February and is set to join the Blues when his contract starts on July 1st.
However, there is some confusion around when he will make the move given both the Premier League and Eredivisie seasons are unlikely to be completed by that point.
It has been suggested that he finish the campaign with Ajax before moving to Chelsea and, it is believed FIFA are working on a new rule to extend contracts until domestic leagues are completed.
If one of the parties, either Ajax, Chelsea or Ziyech, do not want Ziyech to play for Ajax, he won’t be playing.
They question why the player himself would want to take the risk anyway. His contract in London is ‘undoubtedly better’ and why should he risk a move that is ‘guaranteed’ at this point.
A simple injury picked up in July could scupper the whole thing and lead to messy legal cases, with the newspaper citing the Emiliano Sala case as an example.
They believe Ziyech would be ‘wise’ to not play beyond July as it is in nobody’s interest for him to put the transfer at risk.
