On Monday, Brazilian journalist Venê Casagrande stated Sheffield United are on the verge of agreeing a €12m deal with Lommel SK for Vinícius Souza’s transfer.
The defensive midfielder arrived at the Belgian club from Flamengo in 2020 and he’s set to end his three-year spell with them.
That’s according to today’s Het Belang van Limburg, who state Lommel ‘loses Vinícius Souza to Sheffield United’.
It’s said Lommel have accepted an offer of €12m excluding bonuses on Monday, making him the new record sale in Belgium’s second division.
HBVL add the Brazilian will undergo medical tests with the newly promoted Premier League side in the ‘coming days’.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side have shown concrete interest in the South American for some time and they are getting closer to completing a deal for Vinícius. He’s expected to replace Sander Berge at Bramall Lane as the Norwegian is set to join Burnley this summer.
Lommel are owned by the City Football Group, who also own Manchester City. The report states Vinícius had trained at the Citizens facilities earlier in the window.
He managed a goal and an assist from 37 games last season.
