Manchester United are edging closer to completing a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana, according to multiple reports from Italy.
For the past week or so, the two clubs have been trying to find an agreement for the 27-year-old’s transfer. The ‘white smoke came’ late on Sunday evening after the two clubs ‘reached a definitive agreement’, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
It’s claimed Manchester United will pay more than €50m, with bonuses included, to sign the stopper requested by Erik ten Hag. The report adds he’s ‘expected’ to arrive in Manchester on Monday for medical tests.
Sky Italia state the Red Devils’ ‘latest raise’ has ‘definitely convinced’ the Nerazzurri to let go of the player for a fee around €50m plus bonuses.
After receiving the green light from Inter, the report states Onana will leave, ‘perhaps by Tuesday’, for Manchester to carry out his medical with the English club.
Calciomercato.it state the fee agreed between the two clubs is £46m [€53.5m] including bonuses and the Red Devils will offer a four-year deal to the Cameroonian. They add his medical with the Premier League side should take place ‘between tomorrow and Tuesday’.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims the two clubs are sorting out the ‘last details’, mainly regarding the payment methods.
With regards to Onana’s trip to England, the journalist states there’s ‘no certainty’ so far because he doesn’t have a visa. Therefore, it’s ‘probable’ for the Cameroonian to ‘first stop elsewhere’ before arriving in Manchester, as soon as possible.
To sum it up, the last details of the operation should be sorted out soon so that Onana can make a trip to England to undergo medical tests before completing a move to Manchester United.
