Cenk Tosun has been linked with a return to Turkey for most of the period since he signed for Everton in 2018.
The striker had been a huge fan favourite at Besiktas prior to the move, and despite other Super Lig clubs reportedly having an interest, it was always likely to be the Black Eagles that Tosun would choose if Everton allowed a loan move to Turkey.
That was granted during the January window, and Tosun is already thrilling supporters again, leading the Turkish media to once again fall in love with the player.
At the weekend, the 29-year-old scored twice for his loan club, as Besiktas beat Genclerbirligi 3-0.
That sees them second in the Super Lig, level on points with both leaders Galatasaray and third placed Fenerbahce. In what is looking likely to be a thrilling race for the line, there’s a lot of hope at Besiktas that Tosun can make the difference.
That’s certainly what the Everton owned player plans to do, and AsistAnaliz quote him as saying: “I returned home. I came to make Besiktas champions. It was good for me to contribute to my team after a long time.
“I have come to support and contribute to my team. I promise to give everything to my team as long as I am on the pitch.”
Should Tosun fire his team to the title, then there’s going to be a lot of pressure on Besiktas to make the move permanent.
