Alexandre Lacazette seems to be eyeing a summer Lyon exit already, which has been made clear in comments given to the French media.

Lacazette spoke to Canal (relayed by L’Equipe) and talked up the possibility of a summer move away from Lyon: “I think that this summer will be the moment when I will change the air and discover something else, always with the idea to move forward and progress in football and life.”

The comments haven’t gone down very well. It’s not that Lyon fans believe Lacazette will always stay at the club, but probably more so that it was aired just before the club’s Screen Shot 2017-02-06 at 08.23.19match against Saint Etienne. A derby of sorts, which they lost 2-0.

L’Equipe point out that West Ham were one of a number of clubs who ‘opened discussions’ to sign Lacazette during the last summer transfer window, and it’s expected there’ll be widespread interest again during the next transfer period.

Lacazette will be 26 years of age in the summer and has a contract with Lyon until June 2017. If Slaven Bilic is to have any chance of persuading Lacazette then West Ham need to go on an amazing run between now and the end of the season. Stranger things have happened.
