Atlético Madrid defender Felipe has been ‘unable to reach a economic agreement’ with Wolverhampton Wanderers to move to Molineux in January.

That’s according to Marca, who say Julen Lopetegui ‘would welcome him’ at the club next month as he looks to strengthen for the relegation battle.

The newspaper covers the developing situation at Atlético, who are desperate to sell players in January in an attempt to fill a hole in their books.

Several in Diego Simeone’s squad have been put up for sale and Felipe and Mario Hermoso are ‘both on the way out’ of the Wanda Metropolitano.

Wolves are keen on the former but so he has been unable to reach a ‘economic agreement’ with them in negotiations so far.

There are ‘differences’ between the two parties at this point in time, although the newspaper does not mention what they are.

There is, though, a belief that they could be ‘finally resolved’ and his departure ‘comes to fruition’ before the window comes to a close.

That, apparently, will need some more effort on Wolves’ part but negotiations are certainly underway and Atlético are keen for him to leave, which makes things slightly easier.
