Goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler remains ‘high’ on Liverpool ‘transfer wish list’ as they plan under new director of football Jörg Schmadtke.
That’s according to BILD, who say that Jürgen Klopp and Schmadtke could combine their efforts to take the 34-year-old to Anfield this summer.
They report that Zieler ‘is high on’ Liverpool’s transfer wish list for this summer as they’re looking for a new number two to play behind Alisson.
Schmadtke was officially announced at their new director of football today and knows the player well, having brought the player to current club Hannover 96 13 years ago.
It is that connection which has seen him already linked with a move for the goalkeeper and BILD say the interest is certainly there.
According to their information, Hannover would be happy to sell as the goalkeeper only has a year left on his current contract and a ‘seven-figure transfer fee’ would be ideal for the ‘cash-strapped’ club’s coffers.
They already have a successor to him in the form of Leo Weinkauf, so they’re happy to let Zieler go if the offer is right.
Liverpool simply have to make it and there’s a belief they will, now that Schmadtke is officially at Anfield and preparing for a busy summer.
