Everton’s quest for the signing of a new striker may cross the path of Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto.
But no, that doesn’t mean the Toffees are trying to buy the Whites’ youngster. It’s just that those two scenarios could meet each other in the summer window.
As written by Il Giorno, the Bergamo edition, Atalanta are interested in signing Gnonto from Leeds. It’s said the youngster is keen on returning to Italy, and with the Bergamo side looking to make a big investment in the next market, that’s a suitable target for them.
So there are a lot of ifs in Atalanta’s pursuit, but that sounds like a solid project in case everything goes according to plan. Of course, they just need to wait and see whether Everton will stay in the Premier League to continue their pursuit for Zapata, and then have enough money to convince Leeds of giving up on Gnonto.
All these Italian clubs targeting Gnonto, and the number increases by the week, need to also work out if the player, who seems very happy at Leeds United, is even interested in a quick return to Italy.
