As Gustavo Scarpa prepares to join Nottingham Forest in January, the Palmeiras midfielder apparently got very close to going to the World Cup with Brazil’s squad.
The 28-year-old ended up out of Tite’s list, but many people in the country believe he should have been included. That was proved in a poll made by UOL.
The outlet asked its readers about who’s missing in Tite’s list, and named ten players. After over eleven thousand votes, Gustavo Scarpa wins it by far, with 35.4% at the time we wrote this story.
The future Nottingham Forest player was followed by Gabriel Barbosa (25.7%), Renato Augusto (18.5%) and Roberto Firmino (9.6%). Renan Lodi, who’s set to be his teammate at the Reds, stayed in eighth place with 1.48%.
Gustavo Scarpa has had a great year at Palmeiras, with many people considering him the best player in the Brazilian league, which they won.
Preparing for the move to Nottingham Forest in January, the midfielder posted a picture on Instagram of Palmeiras’ training centre and wrote ‘final week’, making it clear he’s having his farewell from the club.
This week, Scarpa also announced the building of a skatepark with his name. That’s a partnership between his institute and the city of Hortolandia, where he grew up. The player is well known for being a skateboarding fan, and certainly hopes the Premier League side allows him to continue skating in his free time.
