During the last international break, Vincent Janssen was living a very different situation to the one he is now.
The Dutch media reported that, as the English transfer window was closing, Tottenham piled huge pressure on the striker on the striker and tried to get him to accept a move on loan elsewhere.
Janssen felt rushed and wasn’t hugely attracted by the options on offer to him, so tried his best to hold Tottenham off, but it was a difficult situation for the player and others in the Dutch national camp.
Fenerbahce then came in for Janssen, with the Turkish transfer window closing later, and secured the player on loan from Tottenham for the rest of the current season.
Quoted by De Telegraaf, the Dutch newspaper who were perhaps most critical of Tottenham, Janssen said: “It’s a new start, with a beautiful club in a nice league. I am pleased that this opportunity occurred.
“It was hectic, but my focus was 100 percent on that match,” Janssen added, referring to the last international break.
Now in a much better place at club level, Janssen will hope that shows for Oranje too.
