Pierluigi Gollini has told the Italian media he’s happy to finally join Atalanta from Aston Villa on a permanent deal.
Yesterday it announced the Serie A side have made his move permanent following the 18 month spell on loan from Aston Villa.
Eco di Bergamo have reported on comments Gollini made to Sky Italia following the announcement he would be remaining in Italy: “I tried to prove my worth every time I was called upon, I’ve not played much since I came to Atalanta and now I’m very happy because them redeeming me was my goal, it was a personal victory, I hope to get chances and to do well also in the next season.”
Gollini signed for Aston Villa in 2016, and started that season as Roberto Di Matteo’s number one. However, after Steve Bruce was brought in, Gollini eventually lost his place in the Aston Villa starting eleven, and was subsequently loaned to Atalanta.
Despite his initial loan move to Atalanta the youngster still struggled to get games, but with reports Etrit Berisha may move on he could be get more chances next season.
The reported €3.75m transfer fee Aston Villa will receive will help the Championship side with their financial problems, and it’s likely Gollini will not be the only player to leave Villa Park this summer.
