Luton Town have stepped in to sign Standard Liège’s Nathan Ngoy this summer, according to a report from Belgium.

The Belgian club initially took the 21-year-old for their academy in 2019 before promoting him to their first team a year later. He’s made 38 appearances so far, of which 17 were from last season.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Luton Town are keen on signing the defender.

The Belgian has less than two years left on his deal and the Jupiler Pro League side are willing to sell him in this window.

Tavolieri claims Luton Town are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with Standard Liège over a deal for the centre-back, who can also operate as a right-back.

He adds the player is ‘OK on personal terms’, meaning Ngoy and Luton Town would have agreed a deal. If the transfer goes through, he’ll sign a ‘long-term contract’ with them.

Rob Edwards’ side have to find an agreement with Standard Liège to get the deal over the line. There would be expectation for the two clubs to come to an agreement, considering all parties are in favour of a transfer.
