Lucas Bergvall will move to Tottenham Hotspur after playing his final game for Djurgården IF in their 3-0 defeat to Hammarby on Sunday.
Tottenham have already agreed a deal with the Swedish club for the midfielder to arrive at the club this summer.
Prior to the clash against Hammarby, the incoming Tottenham player had a chat with Aftonbladet, and talked about his desire to return to Djurgårdens later in his career.
“It’s clear that I am nervous and excited about coming to the Premier League and a big club and seeing how they work. It feels good, but also sad to leave. I have been here for 1.5 years and this is my family. It’ll [return] probably be in 17-18 years maybe. I will round off my career here,” he said.
The 18-year-old’s immediate focus is on his move to Tottenham and he explained the Premier League side have helped him find a place in London.
Aftonbladet report the Sweden international will move into the new house initially with his parents. This hints Ange Postecoglou will include Bergvall in his plans next season rather than sending him out on loan.
“I have secured a flat that we have been helped with by Tottenham. It’s a priority that it’s close to the site rather than central London. It’s also quite close to a tube station so you can get to the centre without the traffic, so it’s very well located. There are several players who live in that area,” Bergvall explained.
Although the north London club wanted Swede to focus on Djurgårdens, the two parties have been in regular contact since Spurs agreed a deal for his transfer.
“They have left it quite free to me and they know that I want to focus on Djurgårdens recently. But it’s clear that we have had contact. After Malmö at home, I had a meal with their sporting director in Stockholm, but it has been at a good level. It has been neither too much nor too little,” he added.
Spurs were successful in beating competition from Barcelona to agree a deal for Bergvall back in February. This had created a lot of headlines across Europe and the reaction came as a surprise for the player.
“It came as a bit of a shock. I didn’t think it would be so much. There are advantages and disadvantages. One side is very happy, the other is not so happy. I think it was good that it happened, so you had to get used to it and learn even more,” Bergvall said.
