In terms of failed transfers at Sheffield United, Lys Mousset is a name that is likely to come up regularly in any conversation.
The striker joined Sheffield United from Bournemouth in an €11.1m deal in July 2019 but would go on to make just 53 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and registering four assists.
He was eventually shipped out on loan to Salernitana on deadline day of the January transfer window last year before returning in the summer and then being allowed to join VfL Bochum on a free transfer in August.
Things have not gone well for him in Germany, though, as Fussball Transfers explain today. They report that Bochum have suspended the striker following a disastrous few months.
That comes after he has failed to make a single appearance for the club since arriving in August, with injuries and a ‘lack of fitness’ meaning he has never been available.
The Frenchman is now expected to leave in the winter, particularly as he is one of the top earners in the squad with an annual salary of €1m.
Where he ends up after that remains to be seen but it appears his Sheffield United struggles have followed him to Germany, where things have not gone to plan for anyone involved.
