Valencia have ‘reactivated’ their interest in Tottenham’s Bryan Gil after an injury to Samu Castillejo forced them to make a move.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say Castillejo’s injury issues is ‘increasing the need’ to sign someone in the January transfer window.

The Spanish club are now looking again at the arrival of a winger, which is why the option of Gil ‘has been reactivated’.

The Tottenham man spent the second half of last season on loan with the La Liga club and had shown a desire to leave this month in search of regular playing time.

That would be on offer at Valencia, a club where he starred under Gennaro Gattuso on loan last year and was close to returning in the summer too.

Now with Castillejo suffering from a fracture in his left wrist that will need surgery and put him out of action for a long time, reinforcing the wings has become a ‘priority’ for Valencia’s management.

Gil would fit in perfectly and is seen as an ‘ideal’ signing as he can play on both wings but the problem is the situation has changed at Tottenham.

Antonio Conte is now giving the youngster ‘affection’ and regular playing time and for Gil that has helped to ‘dissolve his interest in leaving’ for the time being.

That could change in the coming weeks and the player has admitted his ideas haven’t changed on a transer.

“My thoughts haven’t changed, because I work on a day-to-day basis and I don’t think about the future, as you never know what could happen,” Estadio Deportivo report him saying.

“If I get to play I will try to make the most of it and work on the present. If (that possible exit) happens, then it happens, but I’m focused here.”
