Torino defender Per Schuurs has ‘received’ an offer from Newcastle United but the move does not ‘appeal’ to him.

That’s according to Tuttosport, relayed by Torino Granata, who say the proposals that the defender has received so far are not enough to convince him to leave Italy this summer.

Schuurs has been earning himself a growing reputation after his performances for Torino this season, where he has comfortably filled the hole left behind by Gleison Bremer after his summer move to Juventus.

His displays have not gone unnoticed and several clubs in Europe are keen to sign him, with Newcastle among them.

Indeed, it was reported earlier this week that they had already made the first steps to secure his signature as they plan to bolster their squad for a potential Champions League campaign next season.

It seems, though, any effort will be in vain as Schuurs is not convinced by the proposals he has received so far.

According to Tuttosport’s information, they, which includes an offer from Newcastle, do not ‘appeal’ to the Dutch defender at this moment in time. The ‘exorbitant requests’ from Torino have also put off any suitors.

The belief now is that Schuurs could stay where he is for another ‘high-level season’, further increasing his price tag ahead of an even bigger move next summer instead.

Perhaps Newcastle can work to convince him and his club that’s not the best course of action, but at the minute it seems their chances of signing Schuurs aren’t great.
