André Carillo’s time at Watford didn’t last long, with the player spending only one season on loan at the club.
However, his year with the Hornets means a lot on a personal level. That’s what he said in an interview with ESPN this week.
Asked about the greatest times of his career, the winger has made sure to mention his time in the Premier League, even though he didn’t have the right conditions to fight for a title there.
“In my first five months at Watford I felt very good,” Carrillo told ESPN (via Depor).
“I had a high performance and competing on equal terms with everyone, albeit on a personal level, because as a team it was different. As a team it was different to compete against more powerful teams.”
André Carrillo started his career at Peruvian side Allianza Lima, and made the move to Europe when signing for Sporting in 2011.
In 2015, he switched to city rivals Benfica, where things didn’t go great, and he was first loaned to Watford and then to Al Hilal. His move to the Saudi side was made permanent for €10m in 2019.
Playing for the Hornets, Carrillo scored two goals and contributed two assists in 30 appearances.
