According to a claim in the Swedish media, Go Ahead Eagles forward Victor Edvardsen has snubbed a move to Barnsley.
Yesterday we covered reports that the forward was on the verge of signing for the League One side as he travelled to the UK for a medical.
It was expected the Swede would then be officially presented as a Barnsley player and was set to sign on a season long loan deal.
However, Aftonbladet today report Edvarsen will remain in the Netherlands with Go Ahead Eagles, due to family reasons. The Swedish media outlet say the 28-year-old had actually passed his medical with the south Yorkshire side, but at the last minute decided he doesn’t want the move to Oakwell.
It’s likely Edvarsen will not sign for another club this summer, although a move hasn’t been ruled out in January.
Edvardsen has also been on the radar of Aalborg, Charleroi, Larnaca and Australian clubs this summer, and it seemed Barnsley have won the race to the sign the attacker.
