Ajax star Mohammed Kudus is still frustrated about a failed move to Everton, despite his flying start to the season.
The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Everton at the end of the transfer window, with reports in England stating a deal was close to completion.
That did not prove to be the case, with Ajax instead insisting there was no such agreement, and the player would be staying with them.
They maintained that stance at the end of the window, refusing to do a deal with Everton despite Kudus trying to force the transfer through.
He has instead been a regular for Ajax since and been in fine form, with five goals and one assists in his eight games so far.
Two of those goals came in the weekend’s 5-0 win over Heerenveen and followed a stellar display against Rangers in the Champions League, in which he bagged a goal and an assist.
Those numbers would suggest he’s put that Everton move to the back of his mind, but analysts Jan van Halst and Rafael van der Vaart think otherwise.
“The only thing he misses is that it looks like he doesn’t like it,” FC Update report the latter saying.
“I think that’s a shame. Then he scores and is like… I don’t know, dissatisfied or something.”
“Maybe there is still a bit of bitterness with him,” added van Halst.
