On Thursday, we covered claims from Greece which stated Celtic’s Luis Palma has said yes to Olympiacos and they are in talks with Brendan Rodgers’ side to find an agreement.

Olympiacos have made progress to sign the Honduras international in the winter market.

That’s according to Honduras’ La Prensa, who state the winger will leave Celtic and return to Greece.

The Scottish champions signed him from Aris Thessaloniki in August 2023 and he will now return to the country to join Olympiacos on loan.

The report states the Celtic player has ‘practically closed the signing’ with the Greek club and his arrival is ‘imminent’. They add he is ‘packing his suitcases’ to travel to Greece to sign the contract with his new club.

To10.gr gives a background into how Olympiacos managed to convince Brendan Rodgers’ side to sanction a move.

The negotiation with Celtic wasn’t easy as they were handling offers from CD Leganés and Hannover 96. Celtic weren’t sure whether to let Palma leave and had told these two clubs they would decide on deadline day.

Palma, for his part, favours a move to Olympiacos, who offered an attractive proposal to Celtic. It includes a loan fee with an option to buy, but no figures are mentioned.

The report states these were the factors that convinced Celtic to change their decision on Palma. The operation has reached its final stage in the past few hours.

Palma is expected to make a trip to Greece at the latest by Friday morning to complete the transfer.
