Romelu Lukaku has been waiting to leave Chelsea throughout the summer window and his wish could be fulfilled soon.
On Friday, we relayed news from Italy that AS Roma are getting closer to signing the striker. It was also stated their owner, Ryan Friedkin, and general manager, Tiago Pinto, had made a trip to London to hold talks with the Blues.
Another report from TuttoMercatoWeb states the Chelsea player is ‘one step away’ from the Serie A side.
Prior to kick-off, TMW say Friedkin had a meeting with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly. This resulted in a ‘decisive acceleration’ and the two parties have an agreement for the Belgium international to join the Giallorossi on a loan deal.
José Mourinho’s side will pay a €10m loan fee to Chelsea and a salary of €8.5m net per year to Lukaku.
Calciomercato also state the summit between the Chelsea and Roma for the 30-year-old ‘ended positively’. The former Everton man had a video call with Mourinho, after which he has given his ‘maximum approval’ to joining Roma.
If there are no last-minute surprises, the website says Lukaku will arrive in Italy in the next 48 hours to join Roma.
Calciomercato add the Serie A side seem to have alerted the police to prepare a potential plan to receive Lukaku at Ciampino or Fiumicino airport between Saturday and Sunday.
