Pascal Groß ended his seven-year spell at Brighton & Hove Albion to join Borussia Dortmund in August 2024.
The move hasn’t worked out well for the 34-year-old and he’s struggled for a prominent role at BVB. To put it in context, he played 732 minutes from 16 matches this season.
Groß could be on his way back to Brighton in the winter market, according to claims from Germany. Bild report the player is ‘on the verge’ of leaving Borussia Dortmund immediately to join Brighton.
For several weeks, the midfielder has been unhappy with his role under Niko Kovač. This saw his agent explore options to leave the German club in January.
The Seagulls contacted his representatives and have already reached an agreement with their former club. The deal also seems to be in place between the two teams.
Bild relay Sky Deutschland’s claim that BVB will earn €3m from his sale. They insist it’s a good deal for the Bundesliga side as Groß’ contract expires at the end of this season.
The move will finalised soon, with him travelling to England for a Brighton medical ‘within two days’.
Ruhr Nachrichten, a newspaper local to Borussia Dortmund, shares a short update on this case.
The German club are travelling to Marbella today for the winter break. Groß is likely to be left out of the travelling squad because of his impending move to Brighton.
RN state the player should ‘successfully complete his medical in Brighton, the midfielder will immediately sign a contract and will no longer be part of the traveling party.’
