Norwich City signed youngster Oscar Schwartau from Brondby in the summer and he’s already become an important part of the club’s squad this season.
He’s featured in the last three league games and also played in Norwich’s cup defeat to Crystal Palace.
The 18-year-old forward has now spoken to TipsBladet about the move to Carrow Road, revealing why he wanted the transfer to Norwich and how the switch came about.
He said: “I heard that there was some interest from Norwich through my agents, and then we dug a little deeper into it, and then we came up with a big decision.”
Schwartau stated that before joining the Championship club, he had a meeting with manager Johannes Hoff Thorup and that played a role in his transfer.
“Yes, I did. I just managed to have a meeting with him. Their plan is for me to come over here to develop, become a better player and play minutes.”
“I had not played for a long time before I came here, and now I can feel that I am contributing, and that means a lot.”
The player said that he will move into a new apartment in Norwich soon, having spent the first few weeks at a hotel. He seems to be enjoying the experience of playing away from Denmark.
“It is of course special to be abroad. It is a bit strange that you now live alone in a completely different country.
“It’s a big step, but it’s a step I’m also ready for. It just takes a little getting used to, because there are many things you now have to fix yourself.”
He also spoke of the club’s goals for the future and how their bigger plan is to play in the Premier League.
“The ambition is to stick to the team and get some good results, and then hopefully we can move up in the Premier League within the next few years.
“That would be absolutely fantastic. It is a boy’s dream to play in the Premier League.”
The Canaries are currently 11th in the Championship table, having won two games so far.
While they may not be favourites for promotion this season, they are building for the long-term. Schwartau is one of their youngsters and if they don’t get promotion this season then he and others will have more experience to try again in the next campaign.
