On Tuesday morning, we covered the Colombian media claiming Crystal Palace are interested in James Rodriguez.
With the 31-year-old being a free agent since his departure from Olympiacos, a few clubs reportedly went after information about him, and the Eagles were one of them.
However, we now see a different version of that story coming from the Brazilian press, where Goal Brasil come up with interesting claims.
The Rio de Janeiro side are owned by John Textor, who’s also a major shareholder at Crystal Palace, and that’s why the possibility has arisen.
According to Goal Brasil, it was Rodriguez’s representatives who, in talks with Textor himself, claimed the player would like to stay in Europe instead of joining Botafogo, and asked him about a potential negotiation with the Premier League side.
The story claims, however, that there were no developments on that front.
Crystal Palace should have an easy job in case they actually become interested in the player, because Goal Brasil say he’s been struggling with a lack of concrete offers. He had an official bid from Botafogo and an approach from Besiktas, but that’s all for now, with his staff waiting for more in the summer.
